Banana Bread

Today after work I came home and made some banana chocolate chip bread that was soooo yummy!!!! Here's the recipe!!!

  • 1 cup shortening (I used butter)
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 6 very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  1. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition. Stir in the mayonnaise and bananas. Stir together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Blend the flour mixture into the banana mixture; stir just enough to evenly combine. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean, about 50 to 75 minutes. Cool loaf in the pan for 20 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

It kind of caved in in the middle but was still very tasty :)

Primary

Alax and I are teaching primary in our new ward, but since he has the academy on a lot of Sundays, my mom came last Sunday to help me teach. We have a VERY energetic group of kids, but they keep us entertained almost always!! There are 6 kids in the class so i'm going to need all the help I can get when Alax has school...

funny faces!!

The class!! minus one.

Brother Time

So, this is a little late but last Monday Tyler took me to a Rivercats game with some of the people that he works with. It was so much fun!! The days Tyler has off of work, I have work and school, and the days he works, I have off... so I love hanging out with my brother when I can. We met in Sacramento beforehand, and ate at Whitey's and it was soooo good!! I'll definitely be going back there sometime soon!! We had a lot of fun and the Rivercats won!!!!! what more could you ask for??

Our Fun Family Home Evening!!

Okay, so I'll admit that I'm a bit of a slacker when it comes to updating the blog, but we have been so busy!! We drove out to Utah about a week and a half ago to see Alax's parents and to visit my sister and it was soooo much fun! While we were there Alax and I stopped at D.I. and found a left handed set of golf clubs for me, because I didn't have one. That night we went golfing for my very first time and had a lot of fun! Since the trip, I haven't really touched the clubs but decided to give it a try again...in our living room! Alax set up a backdrop made of a blanket tied to two chairs and he helped me learn how to chip the ball against the blanket :) Other than a few out of control balls I think I did pretty good, and nothing ended up broken so maybe my next practice session will be on the green :)

My crazy cool new set of clubs :)

Alax's masterpiece!!!

Trying my best....

4th of July

Yesterday was such a fun day. Alax and I just kinda hung out around home all morning and in the afternoon went to my parents to celebrate the 4th. My mom decorated so cute and had soooooo much good food!! My dad smoked some tri-tip and cooked chicken and we all just hung out all day. My parents invited a friend from my dad's work and his family over, and we went down to the creek and panned for gold, and went and saw the goats. It was so much fun!! Then, we enjoyed the fireworks later that night. It's so nice to have both of our families so close to us so we can do stuff!!

Anniversary

Today is our 6 month anniversary!!! After school tonight, I stopped at the store and got us a little cheesecake and some candles and lit them before I walked up the stairs :) I can't believe it's been 6 months already, but at the same time it feels a whole lot longer than that (that's a good thing) haha!! I feel so lucky to be married to such an amazing man, and am looking forward to manyyyyyyy more years to come ;)

We lit the candles again for a not-so-quick picture with Alax's phone. It was hard to fit us AND the cheesecake in the picture. haha
Alax was soooo ready to be done after about the 15th try :) I really am turning into my mom.....(also, a good thing)

look at us....havin a blog!!!

We are finally starting our blog!! A lot has happened since we've been married, so looks like we've got a lot to catch up on! Alax and I were married January 3rd in the Sacramento Temple after dating for 6 months =D. We met at church in the singles ward and have been kinda glued at the hips ever since! We moved to Fair Oaks right after we got married and we really loved it there. Alax and I were both going to school and working full time, but somehow we still found lots of time to spend with eachother!! Alax started the fire academy just 3 days after the wedding, but broke his hand about a month later and had to drop the class :( but no worries, because he starts up again in the beginning of August, so we're lookin forward to that!! I'm still going to cosmetology school and still lovin it a lot! So we're stayin super busy, and on top of it all, we just moved to El Dorado Hills about a month ago!! We like it a lot, and love the ward that we're in now!! Well, this isn't the best update, but i guess it's better than nothin :) i''ll try my best to update this as much as i can!!
